A 16-year-old was raped inside her Manhattan high school by a fellow student, according to police.

UNION SQUARE, NY — A teenager has been arrested after he raped a 16-year-old fellow student in the stairwell of a Manhattan high school on Monday, police said.
Jevon Martin attacked the girl inside the Washington Irving Campus, at 40 Irving St., on Monday morning, police said.
Martin, 18, was arrested shortly after the attack and charged with rape, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. Martin was arraigned on Tuesday evening and his bail was set at $7,500 cash or a $10,000 bond. Patch was not immediately able to contact his defense attorney. Martin was also charged with sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say that Martin attacked the student on a fourth floor stairwell inside the Washington Irving Campus. The girl told police that Martin pushed her to the floor before pulling off her pants and underpants and raping her, according to the criminal complaint. The girl repeatedly told Martin to stop, the complaint said. The attack happened inside the stairwell at about 8:20 a.m. on Monday, the NYPD spokesman said.
It's unclear whether the two students knew each other or were enrolled in the same school. The Washington Irving Campus houses multiple schools inside its building.
