Train Hits Man's Head After He's Punched In Union Square: NYPD

A man was punched to the ground in Union Square and hit by a train as he lay wounded on the platform, police said.

UNION SQUARE, NY — Two men punched another inside the Union Square subway station Saturday, knocking the victim to the platform where he was hit in the head by an incoming train, police said.

The NYPD is still searching for the two attackers. Police said the assault happened at about 3 a.m. when a 41-year-old man was waiting inside the Union Square station to board a train.

The two men approached him and then punched him in the head, forcing him to the ground, according to police. Then, as the man lay wounded on the platform floor, an incoming Q train hit his head, police said.

The 41-year-old was taken to the hospital and treated for internal bleeding, fractures to his face and the base of his skull and other cuts.

Police are still searching for the two attackers and are asking for the public's help in locating and identifying them. The NYPD released surveillance footage of the men from after Saturday's attack.
