Union Square Hit-And-Run Victim Dies, Police Say

The 34-year-old man died Wednesday, police said.

UNION SQUARE PARK, NY — The man hit in a Union Square crosswalk by a car which was then driven away has died, police said.

Adrian Blanc, 34, died after suffering serious trauma to his head and body when the SUV plowed over him as he crossed Union Square East about 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

Surveillance footage shows the car, which police said was a 2016 Jeep Renegade, making an abrupt left turn from 14th Street to head north of Union Square East. It barrels over Blanc, who can be seen standing in the crosswalk on the surveillance footage.

The video shows Blanc left injured in the crosswalk. Police said the driver of the SUV briefly stopped the car before driving away. The driver never left the vehicle, authorities said.

Blanc's last listed address was in Brooklyn, police said.

Authorities are still investigating his death and searching for the car's driver. No arrests have been made.
