VIDEO: Would-Be Burglars Try To Steal From Flatiron Bank

Two men broke into the Bethpage Federal Credit Union on Sunday and tried to crack the bank's vault before fleeing empty handed, police said.

FLATIRON, NY — Two would-be burglars broke into a Flatiron bank on Sunday and managed to disable the bank's security system but ultimately fled the area empty handed, police said.

Police said in a statement that two men broke into the Bethpage Federal Credit Union, located at 111 W 26th St., at about 12:15 a.m. on Sunday. The men used an unknown object to break a basement window in the bank, police said. They were able to disarm the building's security system once inside, but couldn't crack the bank's vault, NYPD said in a statement. They fled the area empty-handed, according to authorities.
