Woman Charged With Manslaughter In Butt Injection Death, Police Say

A woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter after performing a butt injection that killed a woman, according to authorities.

GRAMERCY, NY — A Queens woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter on Thursday after she performed a black-market butt augmentation procedure that killed a woman in July, police said.

Officers arrested Allison Spence on Thursday, roughly two months after Latesha Bynum died in the hospital following an illegal butt injection in a Gramercy-area apartment, according to the NYPD. Bynum, a 31-year-old from Harlem, met Spence in July to get an "augmentation implant," an NYPD spokesman said. Bynum later called 911 complaining of dizziness and chest pains. The city's medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.

Spence was arrested on charges of manslaughter and unauthorized practice of a profession. Patch could not immediately contact her attorney on Friday morning. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)
