Congregations to Mark Simchat Torah Together
3 congregations to celebrate Sept. 26 at Huntington Jewish Center.

The members of Kehillath Shalom Synagogue, in Cold Spring Harbor, and Temple Beth El of Huntington will join with congregants of Huntington Jewish Center (HJC) to celebrate the upcoming Simchat Torah holiday.
The event will take place Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m. atHuntington Jewish Center, 510 Park Ave. Simchat Torah (Rejoicing of the Torah) marks the conclusion of the year-long cycle of reading the Torah – the Five Books of Moses.
The concluding passages of Deuteronomy will be read, followed by the opening section of Genesis: “In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.”
The hosting rabbi, HJC’s Neil Kurshan, notes the joyous celebration is marked by singing and dancing with the sacred scrolls. All the children will gather under a large tallit (prayer shawl) and be blessed by the rabbis of the participating congregations.
