Conneely Named Ivy League LAX Player of the Week

Former Hills West star honored for strong play against two top Division I teams.

Dix Hills native John Conneely, a midfielder with the University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team, was named Ivy League Player of the Week.

Conneely received the honor following strong performances against two of the nation’s top Division I lacrosse programs.

On March 6, he had two goals and two assists in Penn’s upset win over No. 8 North Carolina 10-6. Four days later, he had one goal and two assists in a tough 8-7 loss to No. 12 Villanova.

Through four games this season, Conneely leads the Penn Quakers with seven goals and four assists. He entered his senior season with 33 career goals and 61 career points.

A 2008 graduate of Half Hollow Hills West High School, Conneely and his Penn teammates begin Ivy League play Sunday when they head to Princeton to play the Tigers at 2 p.m. Local fans interested in watching Conneely play may do so by tuning into the game on ESPNU.
