Firefighters Rescue Trapped Driver In Melville

The vehicle overturned on its side on Wednesday night.

Firefighters rescued a trapped driver from a vehicle that overturned onto its side in Melville on Wednesday night, fire officials say.

Melville firefighters and Suffolk Police responded to the crash on Half Hollow Road, near Blossom Street, at 11:05 p.m. Firefighters used heavy rescue tools to remove the windshield and extricate the driver from the overturned Honda SUV.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Huntington Hospital by the Melville Rescue Squad.

Melville firefighters and EMT's responded with two ambulances, a heavy rescue truck, and paramedic first responder units. Units were under the direction of Assistant Chief David Kaplan.
