Following three consecutive wins to start the season, the Half Hollow Hills East boys’ lacrosse team was downed by League I powerhouse West Islip 11-4 on Tuesday at High School East.
Any thought the Thunderbirds (3-1) had about pulling an upset was quickly squelched by the Lions who raced out to a 5-0 lead in the first quarter.
Senior Jack Tesoriero put Hills East on the scoreboard at the 9:13 mark of the second quarter but West Islip would answer twice and extended its lead to 7-1 at the 8:31 mark of the third quarter.

Back-to-back goals from Carter Jones and Jesse Parker (2 goals) cut West Islip’s lead to 8-4 and gave life to the Thunderbirds. But a goal by Lions’ defenseman Patrick Ryan stemmed the tide and put West Islip ahead 9-4.
