A Plea to All....Last night, the volunteers of the MFD were called to treat a child for the ingestion of methadone. The child was breathing, but unconscious. The crew had to administer Narcan. The child, then conscious, was transported to the hospital. If you think that we don't have an opiod epidemic right here in front of us, THINK AGAIN. This was an innocent child. If you know someone battling an opiod addiction, help them GET HELP. If you're thinking that you can try it and not get hooked, we are literally begging you...PLEASE DON'T!

Opioids, including heroin, prescription pain pills like morphine, codeine, oxycodone, methadone and Vicodin, can slow a person's breathing and eventually cause death. When administered, Narcan restores breathing within two to five minutes, preventing brain injury and death.
