Plenty of Sand, Few Castles

Thursday's erratic weather cut into the town's second annual sandcastle contest but larger crowds were expected later.

Held at Crab Meadow Beach in Northport before the showing of the movie Superman, the contest attracted only two contestants at the start. But other competitors had signaled their plans to participate.
