School Bus Carrying 18 Children Involved In Melville Crash
The bus collided with a car on Tuesday morning, fire officials say.
Updated with quote from the school district's assistant superintendent at 3:50 p.m.: A school bus with 18 children on board was involved in a crash on Tuesday morning in Melville, fire officials say.
The students were on their way to Signal Hill Elementary School in Dix Hills when the bus was involved in a crash with a car on New York Avenue, near Rainer Street, at 8:53 a.m.
The students were transferred to another Half Hollow Hills School District bus.

There were no reported injuries, officials say. The bus driver declined medical attention and two children were released to their parents.
“All of the students who were on the bus are in school, and all parents had been notified at the time of the accident," Anne Marie Marrone Caliendo, the school district's assistant superintendent, said in a statement.

The Melville Fire Department responded to the scene with three Rescue Squad ambulances, an engine, paramedic unit and Fire Police. All units were under the direction of Assistant Chief David Kaplan.
