'Scott J. Beigel Way' Street Sign Unveiled
The Long Island native was killed in a school shooting when he unlocked his classroom briefly to let more students take shelter.

Local officials, family, friends and former students were in attendance for the street dedication ceremony of "Scott J. Beigel Way," which was named in honor of the Dix Hills native killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in February.
Beigel was a geography teacher at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and the school's cross country coach. He was struck by a bullet as he shut a classroom door behind him. He had unlocked his classroom briefly to let more students take shelter.
The sign was unveiled at Hart Place on Saturday.
