2 Injured In Harlem NYCHA Tower Fire: FDNY

A blaze on the 10th floor of a NYCHA building along First Avenue prompted a massive FDNY response Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

NEW YORK CITY — A blaze in a Harlem public housing building left two people, including a child, injured Tuesday, authorities and reports said.

The fire began about 12:50 p.m. inside a NYCHA tower, FDNY officials said.

Firefighters responded to find a fire on the 10th floor of 2375 First Ave., a 16-story building between East 120th and East 122th streets in the Wagner public housing development, authorities said.

Nearly 80 firefighters helped battle the fire and help two people who were hurt, authorities said. FDNY officials didn't have any information on the victims' ages or injuries, other than they went to Harlem Hospital.

Video shows a child on a gurney being wheeled away from Wagner Houses, FreedomNews.TV tweeted. The video also saws a firefighter on a gurney.

The fire was listed as under control by 1:30 p.m. and its cause is still under investigation, officials said.
