Created during a period of disruption and distance, this body of work explores the space between external reality and interior experience. Working at the intersection of painting and photography, the artist brings together shared, recognizable imagery with the intimacy of the brushstroke, allowing both mediums to retain their distinct voices.Rather than seeking seamless integration, the work embraces the layered nature of perception—what we see, what we remember, and what we bring to an image. Familiar yet open-ended, the pieces invite viewers to pause, reflect, and engage with the subtle tensions between memory, presence, and interpretation.

Ana C. Traversa is an Argentine-born, New York–based visual artist whose work spans painting and sculpture. With a career that bridges continents and generations, her practice has been presented in major cultural institutions, museums, and academic spaces across the United States, Latin America, and Europe. Trained in fine arts in Buenos Aires, Traversa’s work reflects a lifelong commitment to visual storytelling, material exploration, and community engagement. For over three decades, she has also shared her work and knowledge through educational and nonprofit collaborations, affirming art as both a personal and public act.

Ana’s body of work reflects a sustained dialogue between form, memory, and emotion. Moving fluidly between two-dimensional and three-dimensional expression, her work explores the human condition through gesture, texture, and symbolic abstraction. The exhibition brings together pieces from different periods of her practice, alongside recent works, offering viewers a layered encounter with an artist whose creative language continues to evolve while remaining deeply rooted in classical training and intuitive expression.

La Letra del Año, or Odu of the Year, is a forecast offered to the community as a result of the Lucumi divination ceremony held by a council of babalawos in Cuba. Announced on January 1st, this “reading” provides a sacred blueprint and predictions for the year ahead.&nbsp;

Annually, CCCADI hosts a panel of Lucumi priests (oluwos, oba oriates, and oloshas) for an evening of multi-generational dialogue on the cultural, social, and philosophical implications of that year’s forecast.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Join us on January 15th as we kick off our milestone 50th anniversary year with this year’s Letra del Año.&nbsp; All are welcome to participate in this virtual discussion!

***This program is not a divination ceremony nor meant to replace the wisdom and guidance of Lucumí elders and practitioners across the globe who also divine on behalf of their countries, regions, and iles (religious houses and temples).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
***In Yorubaland, the ceremony is usually conducted during the Odun Ifa Festival later in the Gregorian Calendar.&nbsp;
Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and engage in dialogue throughout the program. To receive the link to the virtual program, you must register in advance.&nbsp;
