East Harlem Deli Worker Stabbed To Death By Customer: Police

A 34-year-old worker at an East Harlem bodega was fatally stabbed by a customer during an argument Tuesday night, police said.

EAST HARLEM, NY — An employee at an East Harlem deli was fatally stabbed by a customer on Tuesday after the two men got into an argument, according to police.

The incident unfolded around 11:37 p.m. at a bodega on Second Avenue near East 102nd Street. The dispute between the 34-year-old employee and the unidentified assailant may have been over the cost of an item in the store, according to the Daily News.

The argument spilled out onto the street outside the store, at which point the suspect stabbed the employee in the torso with an unknown object, police said. Paramedics found the victim in front of the shop and rushed him to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect fled the deli eastbound along East 102nd Street, police said. Police had no description of the assailant, and the victim's name was withheld pending proper family notification.
