The 35-year-old man is accused of committing a murder at an East Harlem NYCHA complex and injuring a sanitation worker on 125th Street.

HARLEM, NY — Police have arrested a Harlem man in connection with two recent shootings in the neighborhood, including a murder at an East Harlem housing complex and a non-fatal shooting of a sanitation worker on 125th Street.
Emres Smith, 35, is facing a murder charge in connection with the Nov. 17 shooting of Susakii Young, police said Tuesday.
The shooting unfolded around 8:40 p.m., when police got a call reporting an assault at 2375 First Ave. — part of the NYCHA Wagner Houses, near East 121st Street.

Officers found Young, 34, with a gunshot wound to the head — reportedly near the playground outside the building. He was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, just days earlier, a 61-year-old worker contracted with the 125th Street B.I.D. was shot in the buttocks while he swept 125th Street near Lenox Avenue, according to police. Police later circulated a photo of the suspect, pictured inside a nearby store.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that Smith was also suspected in that shooting, which reportedly happened as Smith allegedly tried to rob another man on that corner, inadvertently hitting the worker.
