Harlem Restaurant's Dessert Named One Of NYC's Best
A newly updated list of the 22 best desserts in New York City features a popular Harlem restaurant. Here's which one.
HARLEM, NY — Harlemites with a sweet tooth are in luck: a dessert sold at a neighborhood restaurant was just named one of the best in New York City.
The list by Eater compiles 22 sweet treats from across the city that it deems the tastiest, from Malaysian rice balls to Mexican fritters to banana rum pudding. First published years ago, the list was refreshed this week with a number of new additions.
Among the new names: FieldTrip, the rice-focused restaurant on Malcolm X Boulevard, which made the list for its rice milk hibiscus swirl soft serve.

"The kitchen blends rice milk, raspberries, and hibiscus into a cool, purple-hued treat," Eater raves. "It doesn’t pack the lusciousness of a milkier gelato, but that’s not the point here; the point is to lower your core temperature with fruit and sugar — and without any dairy."
The soft serve is vegan, Eater notes. FieldTrip, which was opened in 2019 by chef JJ Johnson, also serves up dozens of savory dishes, from brisket bowls and gumbo to salads and bao buns.

In addition to the Harlem location, FieldTrip has recently opened storefronts at Rockefeller Center and in Long Island City, QUeens.
