Harlem Street Flooded With Drugs As Cops Look Other Way: Report
Drug dealers and users have established a "headquarters" on a Harlem block, and calls to police for help go largely unanswered.
HARLEM, NY — Drug dealers and users have flooded a Harlem block, turning a neighborhood restaurant into a "headquarters" as police officers don't bother to make arrests, according to reports.
New York Post reporters witnessed "brazen dealers... slinging dope in broad daylight" and open drug use on St. Nicholas and Lenox avenues between West 111th and 112th streets while reporting in the area. Reporters were tipped off to the activity by workers at Wonder Fried Chicken & Pizza, who said the dealers have turned their place of work into a hub for illegal activity.
Workers at the eatery told the Post that drug dealers would harass and attack employees if they tried to make them leave the business.

Locals told reporters that officers from the NYPD's 28th Precinct don't bother to make arrests when called to the block. Instead, police simply chase dealers and users out of the area. The day after the Post's article was published, reporters saw 28th Precinct Officers patrolling the block by foot.
But when officers were called away from the street, the dealers returned.
