Krispy Kreme Opens Only Shop On Manhattan's East Side

The rapidly expanding doughnut chain opened a new East Harlem shop on Tuesday, marking its only store on the East Side of Manhattan.

EAST HARLEM, NY — Doughnut lovers, rejoice: Krispy Kreme has opened up a new shop in East Harlem, marking the latest addition to the rapidly expanding, cult-favorite chain.

The store is at 1882 Third Ave., on the corner of East 104th Street — a storefront most recently home to a GNC. Before this week, the closest Krispy Kremes were on 125th Street in Central Harlem and 96th Street on the Upper West Side — with no shops anywhere on the East Side.

Famed for its glazed doughnuts, Krispy Kreme has plotted a citywide expansion in recent years. In recent years, the only Manhattan shop was hidden away in Penn Station, but there are now eight locations in the borough. (The chain previously had other shops in the city, including an Upper East Side on Third Avenue near East 84th Street.)

During the East Harlem shop's first week, 10 customers will be randomly selected to get a "celebration ticket" good for a dozen free glazed doughnuts per month throughout the year, the company says.

Besides a "full doughnut menu," the shop offers hot and cold beverages and serves walk-in orders, deliveries and in-store pickups.

The shop created 25 new jobs between workers and managers, Krispy Kreme says.

"We’re so thrilled to be expanding into a truly special location and to be serving a community with an exceptionally rich history for many," Krispy Kreme NYC Operations director Christine Kobrynich said in a news release. "We’re looking forward to being a great neighbor in Spanish Harlem and offer such an amazing community with joy in the form of sweet treats."

The shop is open from 7 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 7 a.m.–11 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

This story has been updated to reflect Krispy Kreme's previous Manhattan locations that have since closed.
