Man Arrested 1 Year After Harlem Murder, Police Say

A 24-year-old Harlem man has been arrested more than a year after another man was gunned down at a neighborhood NYCHA complex, police said.

HARLEM, NY — A Harlem man has been arrested and charged with murder more than a year after a man was gunned down at an East Harlem housing complex, police said.

Miles Payton, a 24-year-old Central Harlem resident, was taken into custody in connection with the Sept. 19, 2020 shooting of 29-year-old Jerell Parks, police said this week.

The shooting happened around 11:05 p.m. that day, inside 405 East 105th St., part of the Wilson Houses NYCHA complex.

Parks, who lived in the building, was found with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was rushed to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died more than a month later on Oct. 24.
