Man Fatally Shot In East Harlem, Police Say

A 33-year-old man was shot and killed on an East Harlem street corner early Thursday, police said. No arrests have been made.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A 33-year-old man was shot and killed on an East Harlem street corner early Thursday, police said.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m., when police received a 911 call about a shooting near the corner of East 121st Street and Third Avenue.

Officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest in front of the Harlem East Life Plan clinic. He was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man's name was not released, pending proper family notification. Police have made no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.

Crime has mostly dropped this year in East Harlem's 25th Precinct, according to NYPD statistics, though the number of murders had risen from eight last year to 10 so far in 2021 — not including Thursday's shooting.
