Man Shot In Front Of Harlem Bodega, Police Say

The 30-year-old victim is expected to survive his injuries. The gunman has not been caught, police said.

HARLEM, NY — A gunman opened fire in front of a Central Harlem bodega Monday night, injuring one man, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

A 30-year-old man was standing in front of a store on Lenox Avenue near West 112th Street around 6:45 p.m. when an unknown man wearing all black approached him, police said. The man in black pulled a gun and shot the man one time, police said.

The victim was rushed to St. Luke's hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

Some of the gunman's shots missed his target and went flying through the bodega's glass windows, the Daily News reported. One woman was injured by the shattered glass and was treated at an area hosptial, the News reported. Initial police reports indicated the woman was shot, but were later corrected, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The gunman fled the scene and headed east on West 11th Street after the shooting, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
