Man Slashes At Random In Harlem, Police Say

The man was approached from behind and slashed in the face in a seemingly random attack.

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted in connection with a seemingly random slashing in Harlem, police said.

A 66-year-old man was walking on West 144th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue on Thursday night when he was approach from behind by an unknown man, police said. The unknown man pulled an unknown sharp object and slashed the man on the left side of the face before fleeing the scene, police said.

The two men had not been speaking before the attack and the slashers motive is unknown, police said. The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s or 30s standing about 6-feet-tall with a medium build and dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes and a black backpack, police said.
