Man Snatches Chain From Teen's Neck In East Harlem, Police Say

The man walked up from behind a 13-year-old girl and stole her jewelry.

EAST HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who snatched a piece of jewelry right off the body of a teenage girl, police said.

The man approached a 13-year-old girl from behind on the night of Sunday, March 17 and snatched a chain from her neck, police said. The robbery occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Third Avenue between East 107th and 108th streets.

After snatching the chain, the man fled the scene by heading into the Franklin Plaza apartment complex on Second Avenue and East 107th Street.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 40s or 50s who stands about 5-foot-7 and weighs around 160 pounds. The man was last seen wearing a black hat, black coat, blue jeans and red sneakers, police said.
