Man Tries To Rape Woman In Harlem Apartment Building, Police Say
The attempted rapist followed the woman inside an apartment building as she was opening the door.

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who tried to rape a woman as she entered a Harlem residential building, police said.
The unknown man followed a 22-year-old woman as she was walking in the vicinity of Lenox Avenue and St. Nicholas Avenue on Friday, May 11, police said. When the woman entered an apartment building, the man followed her up the building's steps and into the entrance, police said.
When the man and woman were both inside, the man approached her from behind and attempted to pull her pants down, police said. After a struggle, the man fled the building heading west on West 111th Street toward Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard.

The woman was not injured and refused medical attention on the scene, police said.
The suspect is described as a man with a medium complexion standing 5-foot-7 and weighing about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black Chicago Bulls cap, black hooded shirt with "Champion" on the front, blue jeans and black sneakers, police said.
