Motorcyclist Killed In East Harlem Hit-And-Run: Police

A driver hit and killed a man riding a motorcycle in East Harlem on Tuesday, then fled the scene, police said.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A hit-and-run driver killed a motorcyclist in East Harlem on Tuesday, police said.

The crash happened around 10:16 a.m., as the 46-year-old victim rode his motorcycle east along East 112th Street.

At the intersection of Second Avenue, he was struck by the driver of an unknown vehicle heading south along the avenue, police said. The 46-year-old man was ejected onto the street, while the driver fled the scene.

The victim, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at Metropolitan Hospital. Police later found the suspect vehicle unoccupied one block south on East 111th Street, but no arrests have been made.

An investigation is ongoing, police said.

Since 2011, 26 people have been injured in 23 crashes at the same intersection, according to city data. The victims included six cyclists, 16 pedestrians and four drivers — though there were no fatalities before Tuesday's crash.
