Teen, 17, Fatally Shot In Central Harlem In Broad Daylight

A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in Central Harlem Tuesday afternoon, blocks away from his home.

The shooting happened around 3:23 p.m. on West 132nd Street between Fifth and Lenox avenues, in front of the Lenox Terrace apartment complex, police said.

HARLEM, NY — A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon in Central Harlem, police said.

The shooting happened around 3:23 p.m. on West 132nd Street between Fifth and Lenox avenues, in front of the Lenox Terrace apartment complex, police said.

Responding officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his upper chest. The teen was rushed to Harlem Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 3:56 p.m.

Police identified the teen as Taquan Jones, who lived a few blocks south on Lexington Avenue.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
