Video: Cops Drag Man's Limp Body Into Car During Harlem Arrest
Residents crowded police officers as they dragged a man who appeared unconscious, placed him down on the street and put him into a car.
HARLEM, NY — Video of New York City police officers dragging a man who appears to be unconscious into a police car during a recent arrest in Harlem was recently posted online and began circulating Tuesday.
The troubling images depict the July 16 arrest of a 22-year-old man named Keith Woody who was wanted in connection with an active parole warrant for criminal possession of a firearm and reckless endangerment, police officials said.
Woody was approached by officers at the intersection of West 127 Street and Lenox Avenue and fled on foot to a building on West 129th Street, police said. Woody then climbed up to the roof, fled down a fire escape and was caught in back of 14 W. 129th St., located between Fifth and Lenox avenues, police said

It was at that building where Woody appears to be knocked out, causing a confrontation between onlookers and dozens of police officers who responded to the scene, according to video first posted to Facebook on July 17. A shortened version of the video was posted to Twitter on Monday night and has been retweeted more than 5,700 times as of this writing.
A crowd of people can be heard yelling "he did nothing wrong," and "catch them on camera" as police haul Woody's limp body to a nearby police car and place him on the asphalt. The 22-year-old's feet appear to drag across the street as he is being carried.

"He can't even stand up," one woman yells at police after they leave Woody's body on the street.
Police officers tell the crowd that an ambulance has been called to the scene as Woody's body remains on the ground, but after about two minutes a group of officers pick up the man and place him in the back seat of a police cruiser, according to the video.
Woody was taken from the scene to St. Luke’s Hospital for "medical observation and attention" where it "was determined he sustained no injuries," according to an NYPD spokesman. The man was charged with assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and criminal trespassing in relation to the July 16 arrest, police said.
