Woman Thought To Be Victim Of Sex Ring Still Missing After A Year

Corinna Slusser, 19, reported to police that a man she was living with in Harlem assaulted her a month before she went missing.

NEW YORK, NY — A young woman from Pennsylvania who moved to New York City with a man who allegedly became her pimp is still missing after more than a year, an NYPD spokesman confirmed to Patch.

The NYPD could not provide updates on the investigation into Corinna Slusser's disappearance, or say if there are any new leads after a year, but said the search is ongoing. Slusser was reported missing on Sept. 20, 2017 and was last seen at the Haven Motel in Rego Park, Queens, police told Patch.

Although she was last seen in Queens, Slusser was reported missing within Harlem's 32nd police precinct where she was likely living at the time of her disappearance.

Slusser was 19-years-old at the time of her disappearance and investigators told family members that she may have moved to New York City with a man who roped her into a sex trafficking ring, according to a Dateline investigation.

"People may be envisioning runaways and drug addicts, and that is not Corinna," Slusser's aunt Julie Anne Becker-Calfa told Dateline. "She was a cheerleader for a team called the Corn Huskers. She came from a rural Pennsylvania town. She was looking for a more exciting life. And I think that’s why she went to New York City. I know Corinna had no idea what she was getting herself into."

Becker-Calfa told Dateline that Slusser met a man who promised her a safe place to live in New York City and moved in the summer of 2017. That summer Slusser took out an order of protection against the man after she reported he assaulted her in her Harlem home, Dateline reported.

The missing teenager (pictured above) is described as standing 5-foot-6 with blonde hair and blue eyes, police said. She has a large black tattoo of a flower in the middle of her chest, police told Patch.
