Woman Mugged While Entering East Harlem Apartment, Police Say

The woman was followed into her home by an unknown man who demanded her money.

EAST HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who robbed a woman as she entered her East Harlem home, police said.

A 58-year-old woman was entering her apartment Saturday in a building on Fifth Avenue and East 129th Street when an unknown man approached her from behind, followed her into her home and pushed her, police said.

Once inside the apartment, the man demanded the woman give him her money, police said. The woman handed over $25 in cash and the man fled the scene, police said.

The woman was not injured during the robbery, police said.

Police describe the suspect as a man in his late thirties and released a photo of the man (seen above) taken by a security camera. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark blue jeans and a dark skull cap and was carrying a dark-colored backpack.
