Motorcyclist Killed In Suffolk Crash: Police
The motorcyclist was killed while braking to avoid a box truck, police say. The crash caused all lanes to close on Friday morning.

ISLANDIA, NY — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Veterans Memorial Highway, near Old Nichols Road, in Islandia on Friday morning, Suffolk police said.
A 66-year-old Selden man was driving a 2019 Hino box truck westbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when he attempted a U-turn at the intersection of East Suffolk Avenue. The truck crossed in front of a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle operated by Joshua Taylor, 20, of Islandia, police said. Taylor hit the brakes and the motorcycle skidded on the pavement, throwing Taylor around 7:30 a.m., police said.
Taylor died at the scene. The box truck driver was not hurt, police said.

The highway was closed at southbound Sycamore, police said. The lanes have since reopened.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
