Growing the Hauppauge Industrial Park

Here's what one should know about today in Hauppauge.

Good morning, Hauppauge. Today in town, we're asking our neighbors their thoughts on expanding the Hauppauge Industrial Park.

Smithtown Supervisor candidate Robert Creighton outline his vision of taller buildings and more parking garages to help facilitate business growth in town during a press conference Tuesday.

Changes would include:

  • Amendments to town code that will raise building heights to 50 feet within the industrial park
  • Allow buildings up to 62 feet along Motor Parkway.
  • More parking garages
  • Create a buffer zone along the industrial park's north border - the Northern State Parkway - to protect nearby residents.
Supervisor Patrick Vecchio said last year that he is also looking to raise the building heights and make changes to parking restrictions.

This school year, the majority of the school tax levy is being supported by Hauppauge businesses.

What do you think? Would you support taller buildings in the industrial park as a trade off for lower taxes? Share you thoughts in the comments section below.
