Hauppauge Hosts Holidays And Heroes Festival

Attendees played games, watched a holiday movie, ate tasty treats, wrote letters to Santa and created holiday cards for service members.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — To signify the start of the holiday season, Hauppauge High School hosted the second annual Holidays and Heroes Festival, spreading holiday cheer and spotlighting hometown heroes, the school district announced. The event was sponsored by the Youth and Community Alliance Committee.

In the high school’s commons, attendees played games, made holiday crafts, watched a holiday movie, ate tasty concessions, wrote letters to Santa and created holiday cards for currently deployed service members. Santa was also on hand to fulfill wishes and take photos.

The event culminated with the Hauppauge Fire Department’s "parade of lights" around the high school’s front circle and Santa’s send-off. All proceeds raised went to Hauppauge High School’s Share and Care’s Friends of Families initiative, assisting many families in need this season.
