Hauppauge School Budget Adoption Tuesday
The Board of Educate will vote to approve to 2013-14 spending plan.

The Hauppauge School Board of Education will hold a meeting Tuesday night to approve the 2013-14 budget.
The proposed budget is set at $101,612,222, which is an increase of $2,966,111 from the current year's spending plan. The proposed budget carries a 3.60-percent tax levy increase, which will result in a tax rate increase of between $196 and $202.
During the meeting, the board will discuss where to put $422,494 in state aid. Some of the superintendent's recommendations include using part of the money to keep the transfer from the retirement reserve at the current level, use it to off-put some of the expected federal funding loss due to sequestration and increase funds for capital projects such as installing access control doors at each elementary school and Whiporwil, asphalt and pavement repairs at Bretton Woods and technology rewiring throughout the district.
