Islandia Recognizes Service Members At Veterans Day Ceremony
The grand reopening of the VFW post followed the ceremony.

ISLANDIA, NY — The Village of Islandia celebrated its annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Triangle last Saturday, it announced.
Mayor Allan M. Dorman, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, was joined by village board members, local war veterans, and members of the Col Francis S. Midura Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #12144, the Lakeland and Central Islip Fire Departments and the Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance Corps to honor those who served and continue to serve in the armed forces.
During the ceremony, Dorman asked those in attendance to remember local residents who served in the military and have since died. An invocation was delivered by Tom Brauner, Chaplain, Col. Francis S. Midura Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #12144.

The grand reopening of the VFW post followed the ceremony. A new extension was built to provide a larger meeting space for the veterans. Visitors were treated to refreshments during the reopening.
