Lane Closures Coming To Long Island Expressway In Town Of Islip
Bridge maintenance is the reason for the upcoming closures, according to the NYS Department of Transportation.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — Road closures are scheduled for the Long Island Expressway in the Town of Islip starting Tuesday night.
The westbound HOV and left lanes of the L.I.E. will be closed at exit 53 — Sagtikos State Parkway in Hauppauge — between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. for bridge maintenance if the weather cooperates, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. The maintenance should take one night, a department spokesman told Patch.
The state urged motorists to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of a one's driver's license.
