Amid National Shortage, Blood Donation Drive This Month In Hicksville

It takes place on March 26 at the Hicksville Athletic Center.

HICKSVILLE, NY — With hospitals facing a blood shortage throughout the country, a donation drive will take place for the Town of Oyster Bay residents.

The Tuesday, March 26 blood drive, at the Hicksville Athletic Center, is open to people between the ages of 17 and 75. (16-year-olds with parental permission and 76 or older with a doctor's note)

Councilman Tom Hand said: "Blood supplies are critically needed for local hospitals to meet the demand and continue saving lives. Please consider participating in this blood drive to help bolster our blood banks and ensure as many people as possible can be helped."

Appointments are preferred. Those seeking to give blood should weigh at least 110 pounds and not have donated blood for at least 56 days. Anyone who got a tattoo in the last 12 months is ineligible.

All donors will receive a voucher for a free Blizzard at Dairy Queen. The blood drive runs from 1- 7 p.m. For more information, you can call 516-624-6380.
