Animal Rescuers Save Kitten Who Was Hiding In Car Engine

After running across a busy road, the scared kitten was hiding inside someone's engine block.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A terrified kitten was saved from inside a car's engine block by a group of good Samaritans on Sunday.

Animal rescuer John DeBacker said the kitten was seen running across Broadway in Hicksville. People nearby tracked the kitten to the parking lot of the old Sears in the Broadway Mall.

The kitten, however, crawled up under the hood of the car of one of the people and wouldn't come out.

After trying for hours to get the kitten out, DeBacker said he came to help. He played sounds of a cat meowing, which lured the scared kitten out.

The kitten was unharmed, and is now in foster care.
