HICKSVILLE, NY — A sedan driver was hurt after he crashed into a utility pole outside a PSEG Long Island building in Hicksville. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on East Old Country Road, officials said.

The Nissan Altima flipped and live wires came to a rest on the car. Emergency crews from the Hicksville Fire Department and Nassau County Police Department removed the trapped driver after the utility shut down power to the area. Crews were able to flag down a truck after 15 minutes.

The driver was rushed to a hospital and East Old Country Road was closed in both directions during the evening commute, officials said.
