Driver Crashes Stolen Car Into Hicksville Utility Pole: Nassau Police

A suspect has been charged.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Called about an auto accident, Nassau police officers responded to AAAA-1 Towing at 34 Charlotte Ave. Thursday morning.

The arriving officers found a black 2023 Dodge Durango that had struck a utility pole. The driver had run away. They learned the Durango had been reported stolen.

Police identified a suspect nearby and placed him under arrest without incident. Christopher Gilbert, 28, of 1280 St. Johns Place in Brooklyn is charged with Grand Larceny 2 nd Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3 rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4 th Degree. He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
