Florida Man Accused Of Trying To Scam Hicksville Woman Of $45K: Police
The victim of a previous scam, this time the woman called 911.
HICKSVILLE, NY — A Florida man is accused of trying to scam $45,000 out of a Hicksville resident, Nassau police said.
The Elder Scam Larceny occurred on Tuesday. According to detectives, a woman was contacted by a person claiming to be a representative of the Nassau Federal Credit Union’s Fraud Department.
The person stated that the woman's bank account had been compromised and that she needed to withdraw $45,000 from her bank in order to keep the money safe.

The victim had previously been scammed out of money after a pop-up on her computer claimed that her network had been hacked — so this time she called 911, police said.
Detectives and officers coordinated efforts to locate and arrest a suspect.

Jian Hua Ren, 50, of 4013 Palladian Way, Melbourne, Florida, is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, police said.

He was arraigned Wednesday at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
