It will feature unprecedented access to never-before-seen performances, home movies and personal photographs, Warner Bros. Discovery said.

LONG ISLAND, NY — HBO will produce a documentary about Billy Joel that is set to air this summer. It will also stream on Max.

"Billy Joel: And So It Goes" will be shown over two nights and focuses on his love, loss and personal struggles that fuel his songwriting, according to the release on parent company Warner Brothers Discovery's website.

The original programming will feature unprecedented access to never-before-seen performances, home movies and personal photographs. Viewers will also see one-on-one interviews as the documentary explores the Piano Man's life and work, stretching more than a half-century.

“For those who think they know Joel’s story, as well as those who are not as familiar, I believe this two-part film is both a revelation and a surprise," said Susan Lacy, director and producer. "I was drawn to his story as someone who knew little at the outset, and was astounded at how autobiographical his songs are and how complex his story is."

Joel, 75, recently postponed concert dates due to an undisclosed medical condition. He is scheduled to play the stadium circuit this summer, with shows at Yankee Stadium, MetLife Stadium and Citi Field.
