Dump Truck Pulls Down Wires, Snaps Poles In Hicksville: PHOTOS

HICKSVILLE, NY — A dump truck with its load extended up pulled down wires and snapped poles along South Broadway in Hicksville on Wednesday afternoon, forcing police to temporarily close the road.

The dumpster truck wreaked havoc on the road just before 1 p.m. Wednesday, officials said. Live wires lying across the roadway blocked drivers from passing in either direction. Police units had to back up drivers who were stuck in the massive traffic jam.

South Broadway was closed in both directions for hours as utility workers fixed the problem.
