Hicksville High School Seniors Named National Merit Scholars
The two qualified as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program by scoring high on the PSAT/NMSQ test last year.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Two Hicksville High School seniors have been earned scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Sarah Choi and Viveka Jain qualified as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program by scoring among the highest in the state on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last year.
The two ranked among the top 1 percent in the country and were among just 16,000 high-schoolers to be named semifinalists out of 1.5 million who took the exam.
Choi is the recipient of a National Merit Scholarship from Boston University. About 180 colleges and universities finance some 4,100 college-sponsored awards for scholars such as her.

Jain is the recipient of a National Merit Corporate Scholarship from Macy's. About 1,000 corporate-sponsored scholarships are being awarded by more than 200 corporations and business groups this year. Viveka will attend New York University.
