Hicksville Marching Band Places Third In NYS Competition
The group was among more than 50 high school marching bands from across the state that participated.
Congratulations to the Hicksville High School Marching Band, which finished third in New York State in the Large School Class 3 Division at the 45th annual New York State Field Band Conference held at the Syracuse Carrier Dome last month.
The 99-member group was among more than 50 high school marching bands from across the state that participated.
Hicksville marching band leaders, such as captains, majors and section leaders, were honored at the Nov. 28 Board of Education meeting for their impressive accomplishment.

This marked the highest the team has placed at the conference since the 2011 competitive season. During the conference, each band gave a seven- to 10-minute performance for a panel of 10 judges who evaluated them on their musical and visual presentation. Hicksville earned a score of 80.1.
Brian Vollmer and Joanna Rocco serve as director and assistant director of the Hicksville High School Marching Band, respectively.
