Hicksville Public Schools Pre-K Program: What You Need To Know

The Hicksville Public School District offers its own pre-K program for the 2020-21 school year.

HICKSVILLE, NY — Heads up parents — the deadline to submit lottery applications for the Hicksville Public School District's 2020-21 pre-K program is rapidly approaching and enrollment is limited.

Only residents within the Hicksville school district can apply for the pre-K program and children must turn 4 on or before Dec. 1, 2020 to be eligible. The district must receive applications by 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9. A lottery will then be held Jan. 23 and families will be notified of the results.

The pre-K calendar follows Hicksville's school calendar. Each morning and afternoon session runs 2 1/2 hours long and can hold up to 18 children. Time preference will be considered, but not guaranteed. Transportation will not be provided.

Parents can find the application on the district's website, at the Hicksville Public Library and at all seven district elementary schools. They will also find a Registration Packet. The application must be returned in person or mailed to the attention of:

Students who are not selected for the lottery will be placed on a wait list. The pre-K program is contingent upon approval of the school district budget.
