Nassau School Bus Crash: 7 Rushed To Hospital

HICKSVILLE, NY — Seven people had to be hospitalized after an SUV and school bus collided in Hicksville. The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday near Jerusalem and Dante avenues.

Hicksville firefighters and emergency medical crews found five special needs children hurt on the bus, as well as an adult, officials said. Firefighters had to use a "Jaws of Life" tool to remove the Honda Pilot doors and pull out the driver, who was trapped.

All seven were rushed to Nassau University Medical Center by ambulances belonging to the Hicksville Fire Department, Levittown Fire Department and Nassau County Police Department, officials said.

Jerusalem Avenue remained closed in both directions for more than an hour
