Hicksville Woman Charged After Puppy Dies From Maltreatment: Police
Gisela Rodriguez is due back in court on May 22, police said.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville woman has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty, police said.
Town of Hempstead Animal Control received photos of a malnourished puppy in February. The owner was contacted and gave permission for officers and Animal Control to take her dog to a veterinarian for treatment, police said.
Later that day, the dog succumbed to its maltreatment, police said.

Gisela Rodriguez, 32, was arrested without incident, police said. She is aggravated cruelty to animals and torturing or injuring animals/failure to provide sustenance, authorities said.
She was issued an appearance ticket for a May 22 court date.
