Nassau Woman Drives Drunk With 4 Children: Police

Elizabeth Maldonado faces charges that include aggravated DWI and endangering the welfare of children, police said.

HICKSVILLE, NY — A Hicksville woman was arrested and charged with DWI (Leandra Law) on Sunday night, police said.

According to police, a male victim, 34, had been in an argument with his wife at a restaurant in Mineola, police said.

The argument escalated and the victim's wife, Elizabeth Maldonado, 34, punched the victim in the face, authorities said.

She left the scene in a 2022 Dodge Durango with their three children (ages 6, 7 and 14), along wiyh a fourth child, a 14-year-old boy, police said.

The man called 911 and officers were called the home. The vehicle had returned home with the children, police said.

An investigation revealed that Maldonado was intoxicated and she was arrested without incident.

She is charged with four counts of Leandra's Law--aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger less than 16 years, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated DWI, police said.

Maldonado was due to be arraigned on Monday.
